Food Hygiene

Every club serving food as part of the BBQ ClubHouse initiative should have a clear, practical food safety policy in place that reflects how food is stored, prepared, cooked and served at the club.

Before selling or serving food at your club you must register as a Food Business with your local authority.

All persons handling food must have food hygiene training appropriate to their role, and the designated Food Business Operator (FBO) should, at minimum, hold a basic food hygiene certificate, renewed every three years.

The policy template includes sample checklists and logs, but must be tailored to your specific equipment, facilities and service style. We strongly recommend that clubs consult with a food hygiene professional or their local authority environmental health team before committing to a final version.

To support this, we’ve created a downloadable template policy document – for guidance only – to help clubs build their own policy. Click the button below to get started.
